What happens when teammates based in different countries finally meet face-to-face? For some of our colleagues, a Workation turned ordinary workdays into a chance to connect, explore new places, and build stronger international ties. A Workation, short for “work vacation,” gives our team members the opportunity to temporarily work from another office or location while staying fully engaged in their projects. From shared lunches to exploring new places, here’s how a few members of our team made the most of their Workation experience.

Workation locations: Paris, France; Zurich, Switzerland; Prague, Czech Republic; and Valencia, Spain.
It was amazing! It was great to get a chance to meet my colleagues in-person.

It actually helps me to understand my colleagues better, which created more bonding and closer collaboration.

In terms of food, I tried local Czech dishes like fried cheese, potato pancakes, and of course Czech beer! In Valencia I tried sea food, pastries and drinks. And in Valencia I did some gaming activities on the beaches and also went for sunset cruise.

Workation location: Valencia, Spain.
I think the most surprising part was how quickly I felt at home in Valencia. After only a few days I felt like I had a routine and it felt normal to meet with my colleagues who I usually only see a few times a year.
It really changes things when you see people face-to-face instead of just talking over Slack. I feel like it changes the way you communicate with each other even after you leave, because you have a better understanding of their personalities and how they work.
In Valencia I was obsessed with the pan con tomate at breakfast. I loved that even the simplest meals were so delicious and I wanted to savor every bite. I was also in the city during Fallas, which is a huge celebration with fireworks and lots of music. I'd never seen anything quite like it before.

Workation locations: Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Albania, Egypt, and Thailand.
In one sentence, I'd say that Workations are super exciting and motivating!

I tried paella in Spain, pasta and pizza in Italy (delicious!), fish and chips in the UK, and I tried a lot in Thailand, but I specially remember Pad Thai and their spicy curry...they have a lot of spicy food! In Spain, going out for tapas was one of the best activities!

The best part was having the chance to interact and get some fun while we work, share stories and personal experiences from where we are, and from our trips. Plus it helped to build trust and connect with them. It was also insightful to discuss which things can be improved from our work and learning from them.

Absolutely, I strongly recommend it! We have the opportunity and flexibility to work while we're traveling. We get to understand how other cultures work, learn from differences, experience other tastes, and meet with teammates you normally only see from behind your computer screen. And at the same it's a challenge to work while you're traveling, but it was very motivating to me to be even more efficient in my work.

Workation location: Czech Republic
My Workation in Prague was filled with positive energy and unexpected moments of connection.
Meeting my colleagues in person is always an inspiring experience, the collaboration and teamwork made the work feel both productive and enjoyable. We shared plenty of laughter, which made the atmosphere even more special.

I had the chance to try some delicious Czech food, like the infamous fried cheese, which I loved so much I had it again the next day, and chimney cake, which was amazing! We explored the city, walking around the Old Town and visiting iconic spots like Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge, and even took a trip to Vyšehrad Castle.
Overall, it was a fantastic mix of work, cultural experiences, and personal growth, and I left feeling more connected to my team and recharged professionally.

Workation location: Spain.
The most unexpected was a different day rythm of Spanish people and how easygoin they are. They would take there time, in a supermarket chat with a cashier, even tough there is line of people behind them and just be calm and happy. They would also not get up very early in the morning, they would rather have a break during the day and work till later in the evening.

This is not connected directly to my Spanish workation, however recruitment team is very global and culturally diverse. Cooperating with my team helped me understand more about different cultures and how their habits could project into everyday work. It is also very inspiring to see how even though from different parts of world we can find a common ground and cooperate efficiently.
Mostly foods, and the quality of foods was amazing, I tried to eat as much as possible the locally produced foods: oranges, jamon serrrano (typical spanish ham). When going to reataurant I always got gambas al ajillo (srimps baked in olive oil with garlic, herbs and sometimes dried tomatoes).

As cooperate remotely with most of the people in my team, there were not many changes in that regime. However I went to completely new country, I explored it and I was able to live there comfortably. Also understanding another culture, these are things I feel I can benefit from in all spheres of my life, especially at work.
